The Internship
ARC FOUR · HOMECOMING. A new mentor in a flying suit. A working-class villain stealing the scraps. And a girl whose dad is wearing wings.

The text was three words. 'Stark Industries — Internship.' The cab to Manhattan was already waiting at the curb. Zachary's abuela waved at it like it was the prom.
"Kid. The suit you stitched in your bedroom? Cute. The one I sent up in the duffel? Spec ops. Try not to wreck Queens with it."
"Mr. Stark, respectfully — I AM Brooklyn. Queens is just where the train ends."

His name on the news was the Vulture. His name at the kitchen table was Mr. Toomes. He was Liz's dad. He was hauling alien tech in a flying suit because the city had stopped hauling families like his.
"Zachary. Pick up that girl Friday. And if you ever come near my crew again — I will bury you in the cargo bay."

"I don't need the Stark one. I'm Zachary Silva. That was always enough."
He pulled Toomes out of the burning wings. Left him in webs for the cops. Sent the alien tech back to where it came from. And when Tony offered him the Avengers — Zachary said no.
